What to order

Agave is the adults-only Mexican taqueria at Barceló Maya Riviera — an intimate taco bar for up to 24 guests with freshly made tortillas and traditional fillings. More casual in spirit than México Lindo and the most interactive specialty dinner on the complex: watch the tortillas being pressed and cooked tableside, choose your proteins, and finish with the lemon gelato. Reservations required; semi-formal dress.

• Al pastor tacos
  The classic — marinated pork with pineapple and cilantro on a freshly pressed tortilla; the benchmark taco of the evening.
• Cochinita pibil tacos
  Slow-cooked achiote pork in taco form; richer and more traditional than the al pastor, worth ordering alongside it.
• Shrimp tacos
  The seafood option — lighter, coastal, good for anyone who wants variety beyond the pork preparations.
• The governor taco
  Shrimp and melted cheese — a Sinaloan classic; the most indulgent taco on the menu and worth ordering at least one.
• Freshly made tortillas
  Watch them press and cook the tortillas tableside — the best ones are eaten immediately off the griddle.
• Lemon gelato
  A clean, bright finish that cuts through the richness of the tacos; the right way to end the meal.
